With critical mid-term elections looming and pandemic restrictions in place, Hudson Valley Votes staged a virtual get-out-the-vote rally at The Kingston Brickyards. Natalie performed her song “This House is on Fire” with fellow Hudson Valley musicians: Simi Stone, Meshell Ndegeocello, John Medeski, Joakim Lartey, and Daniel Littleton.

In her new book, A Seat at the Table: Women on the Frontline of Music, British music critic and writer Amy Raphael interviews eighteen women who work in the music industry. Natalie is included among female artists: Tracy Thorn, Jessica Curry, Maggie Rogers, Alyson Moyet, Jessica Curry, Mica Levi, Ibeyi, Dream Wife, and more.

Previously only available as physical discs included in The Natalie Merchant Collection, both Rarities and Butterfly are now available on all streaming platforms.

For the past two school years, Natalie has been the artist-in-residence with the Head Start program administered by the Commission on Economic Opportunity in Troy, NY.

Natalie was selected by The American Society of Composers, Authors & Performers (ASCAP) to receive the ASCAP Foundation Champion Award for 2019.

Hudson Valley Votes! assembled the largest group of people at a political rally in the history of their region to give their support to progressive Democratic candidates in this year’s local, state and federal elections. Natalie helped to organize the event and shared the stage with fellow Hudson Valley artists and activists: Eve Ensler, Rachael Yamagata, Paul Rudd, The Felice Brothers, The National, Dar Williams, Bruce Molsky, Mary Stewart Masterson, The Resistance Revival Chorus, and many more.

Natalie has collaborated with Wynton Marsalis and his Septet for the benefit album, United We Swing: Best of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Galas. Recorded live between 2003 and 2007, the album features a diverse group of artists joining Wynton Marsalis and his band to perform jazz and blues-infected versions of their repertoire.

We’re incredibly excited for the release of Wonder, a beautiful and moving film about acceptance, based on the novel of the same name by R.J. Palacio. The film is directed by Stephen Chbosky and stars Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson as the parents of a young boy (portrayed by Jacob Tremblay) struggling to overcome a facial difference. The film will be released on November 17, 2017 by Lionsgate.

Author R.J. Palacio has often credited Natalie’s song “Wonder” from Tigerlily (featured in the soundtrack) as the inspiration for her best-selling book.
