The Mother Goose Project
For the past two school years, Natalie has been the artist-in-residence with the Head Start program administered by the Commission on Economic Opportunity in Troy, NY.
Volunteering three days per week, she has developed a music, poetry, and theater project for 300 pre-school children centered around traditional songs, games and rhymes. Both years have culminated with performances of an original musical titled, Happy Birthday Mother Goose!
Head Start is a federal agency that offers high quality early childhood education to economically challenged families nationwide. Begun by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964 as part of the Economic Opportunity Act, it is estimated that Head Start has served over 38 million children during the past 59 years. Please consider volunteering your time, talent or resources to the children in your local Head Start classrooms.
